Maple Bacon Chicken & Waffles

Finished Product: Serve with a side of 100% Maple Syrup and garnish with green onions!

Finished Product: Serve with a side of 100% Maple Syrup and garnish with green onions and Neal Brothers Maple Bacon kettle chips!

The chance of seeing chicken and waffles offered on a menu at your favourite low-key or gourmet restaurant is steadily growing! There are even chicken and waffle shops popping up across North America at a continuous rate. This dish is usually served one of two ways, with a chicken based gravy or with the liquid gold of maple syrup (we prefer the latter, because sweet and salty!). To amp up the usual dish even more, we thought we’d replace the usual breadcrumb coating with our delicious Maple Bacon Kettle Chips all crushed up (we threw some Srirachup in there too). Boy were we right, this is a easy oven baked treat that’ll taste just as good as its deep-fried sibling! Served best with your favourite Belgian Style waffle recipe.

Five Tips to Start the Holiday Season

December 1st marks the first day of the last month of the year, but it also marks something else – the beginning of the holiday season! Here at Neal Brothers the holidays are the best time of year, there’s plenty of good company,
festive cheer, and of course tons of delicious foods. Everyone has been anxious to get the holiday festivities started, but now that it’s finally here, where do you start?

Here are the Neal Brothers tips for getting the holiday season started! Most seem to revolve around food (can you blame us?)Christmas tree branch with snow and gift box. Top view

Give the Gift of Food

It can be hard to come up with the right present for someone, but one thing that everyone loves is food. Whip up some holiday goodies for a heart-felt homemade gift, make a compilation of your all-time favourite recipes, or write down some precious memories of you and them cooking together. A gift from the heart is always appreciated, and as the saying goes, “The best way to a person’s heart is through their stomach”!

Don’t be Afraid to use those Fancy Holiday Dishes

Whether they’re bright seasonal colours or decorated with fun holiday designs, your plates and dishes can add something unique to traditional decorations that will turn any meal into a festive feast! Reds, greens, purples, and blues will bring some of the winter season to your table and will have your guests feeling the joyous holiday spirit.

Add Some Colour to your Table

One of the best parts of the holiday season is all of the beautiful colours, so don’t be afraid to bring those stunning hues to your table. Light colours such as blues, whites, and greys with pops of dark colours like cranberry, forest green, and plum purple will make the winter season come to life.

Bake Some Tasty Holiday Treats

Shortbread cookies, gingerbread houses, eggnog cheesecake, chocolate fudge, powdered snowballs, the list goes on. Whipping up those holiday treats can be a fun activity for kids and parents to do together, not to mention you’ll create some lasting memories that you’ll cherish for years.  Food is a big part of our holidays and we all know good food equals happy people. So make sure you stock up on Neal Brothers goodies before any holiday party – people will be raving about the food until next December!

Give Back to Others

Last but certainly not least (in fact it’s one of the most important), spend some time giving back to the less fortunate to remind yourself and your children of the real meaning of the holidays. Canadian Food Centres Canada offers plenty of volunteering opportunities and is committed to providing healthy food to build good health and strengthen communities. This holiday season check out CFCC’s website (http://cfccanada.ca/)  to see how you can give back. You’ll realize how much you truly have to be thankful for all while spreading some joy to those who could use it most.

So, get out there and spread that holiday cheer – with these tips you’ll be ready for the holidays before you know it. Seasons greetings!
